About Tequesta Country Club Golf Course
The Tequesta Country Club golf course is a classic Dick Wilson design, restored and enhanced by Tom Fazio II in 2013. It’s built on white sugar sand with excellent drainage and contoured fairways. The grass types are not publicly specified, but greens perform in excellent condition year-round. Elevated greens, strategic bunkering, and water features test shotmaking.
The course plays as a par 71, with up to 6,845 yards from the back tees, and a slope of 132 and rating 73.6. There are numerous bunkers and water hazards impacting several holes including 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 16, 17, and 18. The layout features dogleg par-fours and demanding par-fives as signature holes. One signature hole uses water beside the green and bold bunkering challenge approach shots.
Tequesta Country Club Greens Fees and Membership Costs
Daily green and cart fees at Tequesta Country Club are reserved for guests or social members. In-season 18-hole guest green fee is about $110, while 9 holes run $55. Off-season guest green fee is $55 regardless of 9 or 18 holes. Cart fees and range fees are typically additional to greens and may vary. Some resident or reciprocal discounts might apply depending on membership level.
Membership costs include initiation and annual dues depending on the tier. A full golf membership initiation is quoted at $125,000, with annual dues of about $18,000. Limited golf or social tiers may require lower initiation and dues. Fee structure may also include trail, storage, or miscellaneous assessments. Members sometimes have guest-rate privileges and priority access.
Tequesta Country Club Golfing Staff and Members
The current head golf professional at Tequesta Country Club is Brian Dionisio, with Brett Sanderson serving as superintendent. The club historically hosted Dow Finsterwald as its original head pro and exhibition player. Golf legends Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player played the course in earlier decades. Early member Perry Como lived nearby and played regularly as a club member. The club maintains many traditions honoring past professionals and classic exhibition matches.
A compelling fact: the grand opening featured a match with Palmer, Finsterwald, Connell and Kurtz. The late pro Ed Ficker served 41 years and is lifetime honorary member. The club projects membership prestige via its historic golf lineage and design pedigree. Tom Fazio II, also a member, led the recent restoration work. The club emphasizes preserving “old Florida” charm alongside modern upgrades.
