Luke Clanton, born in 2003 in Hialeah, Florida, began playing competitive golf at age six. He dominated junior circuits, winning multiple U.S. Kids Golf events and three Florida High School State Championships at American Heritage High School. Clanton continued his ascent by capturing titles like the Azalea Invitational and North & South Amateur before enrolling at Florida State University in 2022.
At Florida State, Clanton set a school record with a 69.33 scoring average and won the 2025 Ben Hogan Award. In 2024, he made history as the first amateur since 1958 to earn back-to-back top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. He secured his PGA Tour card in early 2025 through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. Luke Clanton recently capped his amateur career by winning the 2025 Ben Hogan Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top collegiate golfer. He earned his PGA Tour card in March by making the cut at the Cognizant Classic, becoming the second player to do so through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. Despite this achievement, Clanton chose to remain at Florida State University to pursue an NCAA team title with his teammates. His commitment underscores his dedication to both individual excellence and team success.
Clanton led Florida State to four team victories during the 2024–25 season, including a record-setting performance at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. He became the first two-time NCAA Regional champion in school history, shooting a 15-under 201 to set a new course record. Although the Seminoles narrowly missed advancing to match play at the NCAA Championships, Clanton’s leadership and performance were pivotal throughout the season.
