Melreese Country Club (International Links)
International Links Melreese Country Club closed due to soil contamination from past industrial use, including elevated arsenic levels in the ground. The contamination was linked to old incinerator ash but wasn’t considered an immediate health hazard. Still, the city shut it down in 2019 as a precaution. Environmental concerns led to further assessments and halted regular golf operations. Cleanup and redevelopment planning followed soon after.
In 2023, Melreese was officially replaced by the Miami Freedom Park project. The site will host Inter Miami CF’s stadium and mixed-use facilities. The city approved a 99-year lease for the transformation. This marked the end of Melreese’s golf and youth programs. The First Tee program and other services have since relocated elsewhere.
