Spanish Wells features 27 championship holes playable in three different 18-hole combinations. The North and South nines were designed by Gordon Lewis, and the East nine by Bruce Howard. All greens were renovated and re-grassed with TifEagle Bermuda, including reshaped surrounds and improved tee boxes. Water hazards influence play on all but two holes, offering a beautiful but challenging layout. Bunkers were added, removed, or reshaped throughout the renovation for strategic variety and visual enhancement.
Each 18-hole combination plays to par 72, with yardages ranging from just over 4,000 to nearly 6,800 yards from multiple tees. For example, the Gold tees on the East/South layout measure 6,733 yards with a rating of 73.6 and slope of 132. Signature holes include the South No. 2 par-5 playing over water, South No. 7 par-3 featuring an elevated green and strong water and bunker defenses, and the North No. 7 “Horseshoe” par-5 with doglegs and water hazards. Members pay no greens fees for 9- or 18-hole rounds. Member cart fees are $14.50 for nine holes and $21 for eighteen holes. Cart plans are available annually—$900 for singles and $1,400 for families.
One reported initiation fee is $25,000 for golf membership, plus approximately $8,250 in annual dues. Another source shows initiation of $35,000 with monthly dues around $728 for families, $495 for singles. Cordova residents may pay monthly dues of about $582 (family) or $400 (single), with a $2,500 transfer fee. Food-and-beverage minimums for members range yearly between $400 and $600. Spanish Wells was voted the #1 “most improved golf course” in the United States. The course was acquired by its homeowners’ association in 2018 and modernized under Indigo Golf Partners.
